Elk
Bowhunting in west central, Alberta, Canada:
This
is a combination elk and deer archery only hunt for two hunters
per week. This is a perfect opportunity for a father / son, husband
/ wife, or pair of hunting partners to enjoy an excellent wilderness
elk hunting experience. Either whitetail deer or mule deer may be
included with the elk license depending on bookings and availability.
Our elk hunting area is located
2 1/2 hours south west of Edmonton, Alberta between the Pembina
& Brazeau Rivers in the foothills zone. Hunters are allowed
to take one bull elk per license. We offer archery hunts during
the rut of early September only. Elk are required to have a minimum
of 3 points on one antler to be legal in this zone. This means there
is excellent trophy potential and a bowhunter has a good chance
of taking a bull exceeding 260" with bulls in the 300"-325"
range a distinct possibility.
Our archery rut hunts for elk in early
September are conducted by calling, spot and stalk, or stand hunting
at mineral licks or wallows. These methods have proven to be successful
for taking elk by the archery hunter. Our stands are portable and
will be 20 to 40 yards from a lick. Calling in a bull elk during
the rut is a tremendous rush and is a hunting experience all elk
hunters should enjoy.
Camp Facilities:
All terrain vehicles are used to access
this remote hunt camp. Camp consists of spacious and comfortable
canvas wall tents. Each tent will have a wood burning stove, camp
cots, and lights. Elk hunting camp will be limited to two hunters
per week. We provide the hunter with a comfortable, enjoyable wilderness
camp experience and to that end hunters are encouraged to participate
in day to day camp and hunt activities.
